Now that iPhone and iPod touch are out, “touch panel” is proved to be great by the world. I hope a mobile mac like this will come out. Technically it must be possible for Apple to produce this kind of PDA-cum-laptop. I’ve always wanted to carry a very thin light Mac (not an iPod/iPhone) running OS-X with Wi-Fi and bluetooth. I can give up a DVD drive and USB connection as long as it has bluetooth.

It has a thin lid you can flip open downwards, which can work as a keyboard. It can slide behind the screen when it’s not used.

12 inch might be too large for a touch screen because we use it much more closely to our eyes than a usual screen.

Please make something like this, Apple!

Those clamoring for an Apple tablet may finally get what you’ve been waiting for. According to a MacDailyNews source who leaked wireless iTunes a week before its official announcement, we can expect a sort of “MacBook touch” in October.

Apple Patents Tablet Mac (with photos)

Apple Computer was granted a patent for an enigmatically titled “Electronic device” Tuesday, May 10th, 2005. Illustrations for the device clearly indicate it to be a tablet-style Macintosh, and patent filings specifically compare it to the “HP Compaq Tablet PC” and several other tablet machines.

The patent was filed on March 17th, 2004 (first broken by The Register in August, 2004 as noted in the comments), and granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as US Design Patent No. D504,899 on May 10, 2005.

New in the issued patent is an illustration (that demonstrates and confirms that the device is a handheld device with a touch screen.
